Lang Baby Cotton Naturally Colored

Lang Baby Cotton Naturally Colored

The thought behind Baby Cotton Naturally Colored is, as the name says, to use cotton fibers in the colors that can be grown naturally, and not dyed.

Cotton occurs naturally in three different shades – green, ivory and brown – grown from seed varieties neglected for decades due to intensive production und the demand for ecru cotton. The high quality yarn produced as a result represents a saving in water consumption of up to 90%, compared to conventional cotton.

Because the color is as grown and not dyed, the yarn is exposed to fewer chemicals that could potentially irritate the skin, which makes the this yarn particularly good for babies and people with sensitive skin - but not only for them, of course.

Lang offers a palette of 7 shades, all created by plying together the three base colors of green, ivory and brown.

Care Instructions

Always follow the care instructions on the yarn label, but here is a general guide.

The following fiber content options are machine washable and dryable*:

  • 100% Superwash Merino
  • Superwash Merino / Nylon blends

The following fiber content options are hand-wash, dry flat only:

  • Silk blends
  • Cashmere blends
  • Alpaca blends

*Even though superwash wool is machine washable and dryable, we still recommend hand-washing and air drying to extend the life of your handmade projects. Use a wool wash for gentle cleaning. You may also need to use a fabric shaver to remove any pilling.
